20 Million in the trash. You call that Environmentally Sound?!

My jetBlue awards statement just came in the mail, with a little note about the environment. I read everybody’s notes about the environment, looking for bold moves and big impacts. He is what Jet Blue had to say:

Props on the call to action, but are you kidding me?! You throw away 20 Million headsets a year. The title should be ENVIRONMENTAL NIGHTMARE. “Unnecessary waste”? What a gross understatement.

This is one of those cases where a few people made a decision for many people with really huge impacts. It is one of the challenges faced by any large institution trying to serve the habits or desires of a mass audience, without conscious engagement.

Some Questions:

Could JetBlue open this up to the customers?

Would 20 Million people vote to have 20 million headsets thrown away?

Will jetBlue respond when I put these questions to them?
Oh yes I am.
